Neuro-Linguistic Programming Books |
 | Principles of NLP, O'Connor, J., & McDermott, I., 1996 An excellent short introduction to the core NLP(tm) belief set, as well as an overview of a basic NLP(tm) skillset inventory!
|
 | Introduction to NLP, O'Connor, J., & ? ? Description to follor soon.
|
 | The Adventures of Anybody, Bandler, R., 1993 A wonderful children's story where when the parents read it to their children, the parents get to change... this book is amongst my favorite NLP(tm) books!
|
 | Magic in Action [Revised], Bandler, R., 1992 This book provides the transcripts to 6 of Richard Bandler's client sessions. Consistently, Richard models the patterns/problems faced by 6 individuals, and seemingly only through the use of language and visualization steps, the clients problems are solved. Follow-ups showed the clients to have kept their changes over time. A must-have for any serious NLP(tm) student.

 | Changing Belief Systems with NLP, Dilts, R., 1990 Description to follow soon.
|
 | Instant Rapport -book
Instant Rapport -audio Brooks, M., 1990 How to build intense & powerful rapport with other people, verbally and nonverbally! Highly Recommended! |
 | Heart of the Mind, Andreas, C. & Andreas, S., 1987 Advanced NLP Submodalities Interventions. 21 Chapters on how to use NLP to help effect behavioral changes in specific areas or problems. |
 | Insider's Guide to Submodalities, Bandler & MacDonald, 1988 The single most thorough, concise & clear presentation of SubModalities available anywhere. Unfortunately, it isn't the best source on how/why to learn how to use them, but if it were, it wouldn't be as straight-forward & concise as it is! I still recommend you pick up a copy and do the exercises shown in the book. Its worth it, in my opinion, for when you're moving on to more functional material. |
 | Change Your Mind-And Keep the Change , Andreas & Andreas, 1987 Advanced NLP Submodalities Interventions. More description to follow soon. |
 | Using Your Brain... For A Change, Bandler, R., 1985 This was the first NLP Seminar Transcript book to cover Sub-Modalities in-depth. A very funny book, and a must-have for any growing NLP library! |
 | Reframing, Bandler, R., & Grinder, J., 1982 This book describes/documents a very useful method for negotiating with the different "parts" of the mind -- in an effort to achieve more personal congruity with a variety of problems. Reframing was one of the best models/approaches they had in 1982. Fortunately, NLP today offers much faster & more fun ways to achieve the same changes. So if you enjoy NLP history, get this one! |
 | Frogs Into Princes, Bandler, R. & Grinder, J., 1979 This represented the first NLP seminar transcript book; it illustrates the early days of exploration into what NLP was capable of offering, long before it continued to grow and evolve! Still a must-read, even if it's a little bit dated. It's great for an infectious sense of wonder, hope & magic! |
 | The Structure of Magic II, Bandler, R. & Grinder, J., 1976 This second volume of The Structure of Magic provides a more in-depth study of how the Meta-Model can be used to determine incongruity in other people's language and/or experience. It explores how "fuzzy functions", more commonly known as synesthesia, can be utilized towards positive aims. It then discusses the use of the Meta-Model in a therapeutic context. |
 | The Structure of Magic I, Bandler, R. & Grinder, J., 1975 I believe this was Richard Bandler's Dissertation, actually. It presents Bandler & Grinder's results from having modeled Virginia Satir, Gregory Bateson, Milton Erickson, & less explicitly, Fritz & Laura Perls. It presents the Meta Model for eliciting the deep structure of people's experiences. |
Hypnosis Books |
 | Time For A Change, Bandler, R., 1993 This represents some of Richard's latest work, & it provides a powerful attitude-development chapter in preparation for learning his latest advanced hypnotic techniques for belief change & rapid therapeutic interventions. Parts of this book read like concrete tools development, and parts read like seminar trance-scripts -- stories told within stories within stories -- but Richard's style is always highly entertaining, trancy, not to mention curiously effective.... |
 | My Voice Will Go With You, Rosen, S. (Editor), 1991 Quoting Sidney Rosen (3/2/97): "Since it was first published, in 1982, this book has been one of the most popular and most readable introductions to the innovative psychotherapeutic and hypnotic approaches of Milton Erickson. It has been translated into several languages, including French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, German & Japanese - so far." |
 | Ericksonian Hypnotherapeutic Group Inductions, Klippstein, 1991 Wide variety of Ericksonian Scripts from Satir, Rossi, and others -- to read, use, or learn from. |
 | TRANCE-formations, Bandler, R. & Grinder, J., 1981 Easily one of the most fun & accessible NLP/Hypnosis books. I once told Richard Bandler that Trance-Formations was one of my favorites, & he told me that before he published it, they said to him, "there's no market for a general purpose book on Hypnosis." Meanwhile its been one of his best-sellers. This one's a must-read! |
 | Therapeutic Metaphors , Gordon, D., 1978 Description to follow soon. |
 | Patterns of the Hypnotic Tech. of Erickson, - Vol II, Bandler, Grinder & DeLozier, 1977 An in-depth study of how Milton Erickson used sensory representational systems in his Hypnotic work. This represented the first cohesive formally-explored use of VAKOG strategies, termed "4-Tuples" within this book (though I haven't heard the term mentioned much in NLP trainings these days; now, for the most part, NLP practitioners just say "Strategies!"). I recommend this book only if you're into history, can't afford a training, and/or really intend to do professional Hypnosis work. For Ericksonian Hypnotherapists or wanna-be's, this is a must-read! |
 | Patterns of the Hypnotic Tech. of Erickson, - Vol I, Bandler & Grinder, 1975 This volume provides an excellent introduction to the specific processes and language patterns Milton Erickson used with his clients. It represents part of the results of Bandler & Grinder's modeling of Erickson, and attempts not only to demystify the techniques, but also to provide to the reader a structural understanding of, and functional capability with the patterns. A must-read for any serious (or not so serious!) NLP student. |
 | New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism, Ormond McGill Now considered the bible of stage hypnosis; a Must-Have, if stage hypnotism interests you. |
Therapeutic Change Books |
 | Virginia Satir, The Patterns of her Magic, Andreas, S., 1991 Description to follow soon. |
 | Uncommon Therapy: The Psychiatric Tech. of M.H. Erickson, MD, Haley, J., 1993 I enjoyed this book immensely. The title is pretty self-explanatory(!); it's a well-written set of case studies and stories covering Jay Haley's experiences studying the work of Milton Erickson. It's a good read, and I recommended it for any fans of Erickson's work. Far from being an exhaustive tome of Erickson's work, its a nice grouping of a variety of different cases, and if the intended effect was to illustrate Erickson's genius across a wide array of human behavioral problems, then it did its job nicely. |
 | Uncommon Therapy: The Psychiatric Tech. of M.H. Erickson, MD, Haley, J., 1993 If you, your children, or anyone you know have been "diagnosed" as having ADD, then GET THIS BOOK. If you're still reading this, then you didn't hear me!!! GO GET THIS BOOK. :) |
Sales & Persuasion Books |
 | Persuasion Engineering, Bandler, R. & La Valle, J., 1996 This is the book version of the most popular & advanced NLP Seminar on Sales & Persuasion available today. The audio tapes made from the Persuasion Engineering Seminar cost $300. This book is amongst my highest recommendations for anyone looking to enhance their sales skills with NLP! |
 | The Psychology of Persuasion : How to Persuade Others..., Hogan, 1996 Description to follow soon. |
 | Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, Cialdini, R., 1993 An Excellent book -- a must-read. Robert Cialdini presents in simple terms the principles behind how and why people respond to certain Persuasion techniques. |
 | Beyond Selling, Bagley, E. & Reese, E., 1988 Description to follow soon. |
Relationship Books |
 | Why We Pick The Mates We Do, Teachworth, A., 1997 Check out this book by Anne Teachworth, Director of the Gestalt Institute of New York & New Orleans, and co-instructor with Richard Bandler at the 1987 "NLP & Flirting" event (a subject near & dear to our hearts). This book helps us learn far more about our personal behavioral and attraction patterns that cause people to seek out very similar partners on a recurring basis. She also goes further to explain ways to counteract the "internal programming," so as to create more choice & options for ourselves. Way to go! To learn more about Anne, visit her website as well! |
 | Secrets of Sexual Body Language, Lloyd-Elliott, Martin, 1996 One of the best books on body language available, whether sexual in nature or not. A must-read -- even if you wish to learn more about body-language in general! |
NLP in Education Books |
Other Books |
 | Virus of the Mind, Brodie, R., 1995 Author Richard Brodie compels readers to consider the sociological implications of how ideas spread, regardless of the value of those ideas. You'll understand more about how people can be mentally programmed by ideas bypassing conscious filters. Brodie also discusses how to more effectively program yourself for more ideal or more appropriate beliefs and behaviors. Memetics as a subject deals with human behavioral responses to programmatic stimuli. Brodie's style allows for straightforward comprehension of complex issues, and invites creative thinking on the part of the reader. It's well-worth your time & exploration. |
 | Getting Past OK, Brodie, R., 1993 "Brodie dropped out of Harvard to become one of the primary authors of Microsoft Word. But after several intense, stressful years, he quit his job and embarked on a three-year search for a more meaningful life. In this book, he shares the results of his odyssey, and provides readers with a guide to discovering their individual formulas for long-term success and happiness." -- Quoted from Amazon.com.
 | The Illuminatus Trilogy, Wilson, R. A., 1984 From the Publisher: "Filled with sex and violence--in and out of time and space--the three books of The Illuminatus are only partly works of the imagination. They tackle all the coverups of our time--from who really shot the Kennedys to why there's a pyramid on a one-dollar bill. |
 | The Holographic Universe, Talbot, M., 1991 A book that helps people to dramatically open up their sensory channels, explore the fringes of sensory awareness, and adjust their internal belief systems about what seemed impossible but is potentially very available to us all, in terms of skills, awarenesses, and capabilities... |
 | The Trick to Money is Having Some!, Wilde, Stuart, 1989 I highly recommend this book to anyone! This book contains some of Stuart Wilde's best material from his financial freedom seminars. Wilde is a modern philosopher who advocates leaving behind the momentary worries of a "tick-tock" life, as part of the process of achieving financial freedom! The stories he tells are funny, and highly informative. |
 | The Quickening, Wilde, Stuart, 1995 This book is a step or two beyond The Trick to Money is Having Some (above), in terms of leaving behind the "tick-tock" lifestyle. No longer dealing directly with monetary issues, this book will help you to transcend the day-to-day and achieve a higher state of being, no longer bound by traditional "memes" and ideas. |
