doing KE with a Lisp

Postby bwoodson » Wed Nov 03, 2010 7:05 pm

I remember Jonathan recommending learning Lisp the computer language as the best computer language to learn the fundamentals of KE. I actually bought the book he recommended . . .

And, I just saw on slashdot this post:

http://books.slashdot.org/story/10/11/0 ... nd-of-Lisp

The post reviews a new intro to programming book about using the Lisp language to build games. I haven't read it, but since it seems to be an introductory book, this may be good for people like me who
1. want a lot more 'pure' KE skills
2. are self-righteous and think that there doesn't seem to be rigorous sense of 'programming' in NLP and want to learn a computer language to make up for it but don't have the time or the patience to learn a whole computer language
Idiot Savant. Heavy on the Idiot. Heavy on the Savant.

While LISP is a language well suited to AI applications, I was recommending CLIPS... which looks a tad like Lisp but behaves quite differently.

This is a pretty good book for learning certain aspects of Clips:
